Filey Bay 1779 research group works to promote and raise awareness of marine heritage on the Yorkshire Coast, with a significant event in history, the battle of Flamborough Head, being one of its primary areas of promotion.

They have been developing their resources for educational purposes and the benefit of tourism, culture, and heritage in the communities of Filey Bay.

They have previously transformed our PA Trailer into a Mobile Heritage Centre to raise awareness at the Emergency Services Family Fun Day event in Filey, which saw over 4,000 people enjoy the day.  It is also being used over the anniversary weekend in September.

Each year the Festival keeps growing – this year’s event includes a creation of Sand Art on Filey Beach by Animated Objects on Sunday, a Ship Wreck Walk along the promenade by local historian Catherine Welch and a guided walk along the cliff tops from Bridlington Harbour Museum to Flamborough Chalk Tower.  Flamborough Sword Dancers and Filey Majorettes are participating this year, along with the Filey Sea Cadets and possibly more!
