Dragon Boat Racing

At the North Yorkshire Water Park, this exciting event sees teams of 17 paddlers each from local businesses or organisations competing in a series of races inside 12ft dragon boats, culminating in a grand final. This year, the event will be held on Sunday, June 16, starting at 10 am. 

Organised by the Rotary Club, we are once again proud to support this fantastic event that brings the community together and helps it grow to be bigger than ever. 

In 2023, it raised twenty thousand pounds, with twenty-six charities receiving funding, and we’re hoping that with our continued support, we can supersede those figures this year. 

Prizes will be awarded to the winners and paddlers in special categories, such as the best fancy-dressed boat, the boat that has raised the most funds for their chosen charity, and the fastest women’s team.

On the day, you can expect to see many local food and drink vendors and additional children’s entertainment. There will be a presentation evening at the Downe Arms Country Inn on Wednesday, July 10, when monies raised by the sponsors and the paddlers will be handed out to the nominated charities.
