What is the Crescent Arts pop-up?
Crescent Arts will curate 3 exhibitions over the next 12 months, working with local artists to explore different themes.
They will be taking over empty retail units in the town centre to bring a new experience to the high street in a playful and artistic way that is accessible and owned by everyone taking part.
Find out about Crescent Arts, the producers behind the pop-in, and read more about the project below.
The work program is a year-long project that will explore a series of inclusive and inspiring exhibitions led by incredible artists to explore community ideas and themes.
The first exhibition is taking place in The Brunswick Shopping Centre with the theme of “PLACE”.
Crescent Arts have commissioned nine artists Georgia High, Ro Hardaker, Rhiannon Kendall, Sarah Mole, Molly Newham, Aphra O’Connor, Kat Spence, Sommer Vass and Meg Wellington-Barratt an open call to respond to the theme.
Their work varies across mediums ranging from film, performance, ceramics, illustration, sculpture, writing and audio.
These diverse works highlight the nuances of the term and get audiences to reflect on what place means to them, whether real, a memory or imagined.
