OUR PARTNER

The Bonhomme Richard, internationally renowned for its involvement in the Battle of Flamborough Head in September 1779, was discovered to have settled on the Filey seabed, close to Bempton Cliffs in 2019.

We were interested in this finding due to the historical and international significance a finding like this has, so we joined a local group and initially provided them the funding to form a community interest group to turn the finding, into a very real tourism opportunity for Filey and the surround area.

The group has already established strong connections throughout the UK and USA to develop a partnership that is actively working to create new opportunities in the area, with a longer term plan to commemorate the 250th anniversary in 2029 and we remain as an active and supportive partner in their activities.
