What is the Workplace Wellbeing Award?

We joined the working group with NYCC to ensure that you have access to services that could help lower your absenteeism and employee retention rates through developing and promoting a healthy workforce.

Your business may be providing the most rewarding working environment, but external factors may be impacting your employees physical and mental wellbeing. These factors can be challenging for businesses to manage as they can eventually lead to absence and low productivity.

However, to help create healthier and more productive places to work, North Yorkshire County Council has launched its free Workplace Wellbeing Award.


In the UK, 131 million working days are lost to sickness absence every year (ONS, 2017). The main reasons for sickness absence are:

Minor illnesses, 34.3 million days lost

Musculoskeletal problems, 28.2 million days lost

Stress, depression and anxiety, 14.3 million days lost

Help is available to enable you to create healthier and more productive places to work for free through North Yorkshire County Councils Workplace Wellbeing Award.

With expert support and tools available, you can work with your employees to achieve an award that recognises your commitment to creating a health workplace. There are 3 levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold, which at your own pace you can implement changes that are appropriate for your business.
