What is the Old Parcels Office Artspace?
The Old Parcels Office Artspace is a new arts venue in Scarborough, comprising Artist Studios, Gallery, and Learning Space, housed in a grade II listed building on Scarborough Station which has been developed by Scarborough Studios.
Their aim is to support the cultural regeneration of Scarborough by making art more accessible; bringing high-quality art to Scarborough and by giving innovative artists and performers a platform to show their work in the region.
Who are Scarborough Studios?
Scarborough Studios CIO, a charitable organisation was founded in 2021 to oversee the running of the Old Parcels Office ArtSpace and its programmes.
This charitable organisation builds on the work of Scarborough Studios Ltd, a not-for-profit company, which has managed and fundraised the capital redevelopment of the Old Parcels Office, a grade II listed building on Scarborough railway station platform.
To assist Scarborough Studios develop the Old Parcels Office as a venue for new and existing artists to put on exhibitions, we have provided funding which will see a number of exhibitions and artists talks including the four below:
October – Andi Dakin’s solo show Fire and Water with an artists talk and workshop on 23rd Oct.
November – Yorkshire Sculpture Group exhibition is due to open on 13th Nov and will run until the 28th Nov.
January – Photographic exhibition by Nigel Walker titled Red Dress Exhibition. Dates are still to be finalised.
March – Renowned UK artist scheduled, but details will be shared in 2022.
Who will benefit?
The invest will enable Scarborough Studios to bring life to this iconic building at Scarborough Train Station.
The investment provided will enable the CIO to bring new activity to a key destination point in the town and build an income stream to reinvest in more programmes of exhibitions.
