What is ROBOT?
ROBOT (Regeneration Of Bridlington Old Town) is a brand new business and resident-led organisation, created to help regenerate and promote the entire Old Town area of Bridlington, as a cultural destination for residents and visitors alike.
We are delighted to work in partnership with the passionate team to fund their start-up as well as enhance the Old Town with new solar-powered decorative lighting to enable everyone to benefit from a more visitor-friendly experience and nighttime economy upturn.
The lights will be part of the general upgrading and emergence of the area of a quality visitor destination with cultural significance. The Old Town is unique as Bridlington’s developing cultural quarter and area of outstanding local Georgian architectural heritage. It still retains many local specialist shops but an increasing number of artisan-based local traders too.
The Detail
Decorative lighting will be erected across the High Street and funds contributed towards lighting column features in Market Place including the erection of supporting catenary wires to existing fixings. The lighting will provide new opportunities to expand the nighttime economy and change the public’s perceptions of the area after dark.
Funds will also attribute to the set-up costs for the new ROBOT group and for costs associated with hosting the first Winter Festival in late November 2021.
