Once again, the incredibly talented team behind Whitby Krampus Run produced another amazing event in 2022 with many visitors travelling a considerable distance to watch the event, which remains the only one of its kind in the UK.

The event continues to gain momentum as opportunities to watch both virtually and in person were continued this year as well as having sheltered venues to prevent any unfortunate weather threatening to spoil the fun. The team maintained interest throughout 2022 by creating shorts, films and online media content to keep WKR in the public eye as well as local weekly workshops throughout the year where the community could help to create parade creatures and puppets.

Feedback received by the team from the business community was very positive and many were very enthusiastic to be included and participate. Many recognise that the event still creates an atmosphere of excitement and a big attraction with visitors again already booking up accommodation a year in advance and B&Bs and Hotels advertising the new date for 2023. Businesses could get involved by stocking the information leaflets, and posters, participating in the treasure hunt, window displays and limited edition postcards to give to customers.

Forty businesses participated in the interactive treasure hunt which featured QR codes displayed in business windows to scan and collect with a total of 658 scans throughout the weekend.

Coverage of the event is always extremely successful with many national, regional and local publications keen to cover the action. Here are a few of the articles in the top titles:

The Guardian

The National

Wanderlust

Coverage on social media was impressive, with over 73,000 reached on Facebook and a growing number of followers, which are now over 5k.
