We are currently developing a new project to brighten key entry and exit points to towns and villages throughout the Yorkshire Coast, as well as looking at new ways to create new pollinator highways, and we are interested in your views to see if you would get involved.

Following the support we provide to different organisations like Whitby in Bloom, we are looking at opening up funding specifically to improve entry and exit signage at villages/towns that would accompany new pollinator-friendly landscaping.

The idea has been developed following our recent launch of Seal of Approval, where to help businesses reach a level of accreditation we have provided wild meadow seeding.  Although almost everything in the media about carbon offsetting focusses on trees, there is little mention of wildflower meadows and the incredible offsetting benefits that can be derived, even from a small garden meadow.

Just a square metre of meadowland can be home to up to 500 wildflowers, provide food for life for 12 bees, and takes 3kg of carbon out of the atmosphere and so far we have covered 400 square meters with our partners – all we now need to do is watch to see them grow!

So if you are a business, or parish council that would be interested in participating in a village signage and/or planting scheme please get in touch with us as we are looking at making this funding available from Autumn 2023 via bidteam@yorkshirecoastbid.com
