We originally supported a feasibility study undertaken by the Filey Tourism Association in 2019, to explore how a Land Train to connect the seafront to the town centre could help Filey.
Following the results of this report, we have provided further funding to allow for the service to be rolled out within the town. This was originally planned to start this year but has now been rescheduled to start in 2021.
What is a land train?
Many members of the Filey community have explored this project over the years; however, it needed vital research and ultimately funding, to allow it to happen.
The land train will be an exciting new experience that will connect the seafront to the town, making it easier for those with small families and mobility problems experience more of what is available.
We will not be involved in the general operations but have been provided additional information regarding the tendering of operators and how the scheme will be monetised so that funds can be reinvested back into the project.
Who will benefit?
Filey Land Train will give residents and visitors
- A new way to explore the town
- A new reason to visit Filey and encourage safe passage from the seafront to the town centre
- Potential to connect to car parks not within the main centre to relieve congestion
The project has had to put on hold the time being, but as soon as the 2021 plans are released we will update this page with more information regarding the route, timetable and business benefits.
