The Chalk Tower is a renowned landmark on Flamborough Headland, and has been standing proudly for 350 years. Originally built as a private lighthouse, although never used as such, its prominence of the Headland has provided a way marker for fishermen and walkers alike. The building is owned by East Riding or Yorkshire Council and stands on the Flamborough Head Golf course.

The Friends of the Chalk Tower was established in 2013 to raise awareness, educate and promote the Tower to ensure its future; however exploiting the full potential of the building is limited by the current internal fittings.

The Friends of the Chalk Tower have applied for funding to undertake a feasibility study to assess options for full visitor access to building and
potential for installing solar panels to provide power supply to
a Grade II listed building. This study should recommend options to support future funding bids to enable the works to be undertaken, advising on impacts of significance with justification on measures to reduce.

We are fully supportive of the study as a way to bring prominance and additional funding to a key landmark within Flamborough.
