It is great to be working with the Bridlington Sailing Coble Preservation Society who are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. The group was formed in 1983 to maintain, preserve and sail the 40 foot coble Three Brothers, built locally in 1912 by the Siddall boatbuilding family and which had been restored under the ownership of the Bridlington Harbour Commissioners. Since then further cobles have been added to the fleet as well as volunteers all keen to maintain and restore these amazing vessels.

The detail:

  • We will be supporting the 2023 Bridlington ‘Sailing Coble Festival’ which will take place over the weekend of 29th-30th July.
  • Our funding will help to expand on the previous success of this now familiar maritime event with more shoreside activities for visitors.
  • This year will see musical entertainment on the programme throughout the two days with local folk and sea songs performed, fiddle tunes with traditional shanties and clog dancing along with a variety of stalls set up in the Vessel Maintenance Facility at Clough Hole.
