Scarborough’s Counting to Christmas!

Since their appointment in July, the Board has been busy reviewing projects, and today’s announcement is the first of many that will be made over the coming weeks and months.

The Business Plan set out the annual funding allocations with funding ringfenced for projects that would either benefit the entire Yorkshire Coast or specific towns/villages. The area-specific funds will go towards local projects that either improve the visitor experience or increase footfall and spend and we are pleased to confirm that an application, led by a group of Scarborough town centre businesses, has been approved.

The application made was to support the return of a Christmas lights switch-on, market and enhanced lighting feature in the town centre in a bid to help businesses on the high street at a key trading time of year.

The activity aims to kick start the festive season mid-November, and we will share with you information on how you can get involved as the plans start developing.

Several projects are going to be announced over the coming weeks, but if you have an idea or project that will help promote your town or village, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, or complete our “promote” application form and send back to the BID Team.
