Following on from the success of the Whitby Cook 250 Festival, businesses are working together to bring a brand new event to the town, promising an array of experiences that celebrate the seaferer’s way of life from sea to shore. The brand new Fish and Ships Festival this May is working with businesses and groups accross the town, each contributing to the event that promises to wow!

Food lovers can sample mouth-watering seafood dishes, see top Chefs cooking live in the Seafood Kitchen with top local Chefs like Paul Gildroy of Magpie Cafe and nationally renowned Jean-Christophe Novelli. A must see for all food lovers is a trip to the fish market where fishermen, fishmongers and chefs will be giving a variety of demonstratives from fish filleting to lobster pot mending.

Angling enthusiasts should put Sunday 19th straight in the diary! The Whitby Sea Anglers Association are holding a one day open fishing competition, with a £1000 prize for the heaviest single fish.

All of the above is fantastic, but don’t forget about the areas rich history and art. There are many talks, exhibitions and workshops, which are perfect for all ages, or why not just sit back, listen to great music and watch the town come alive!
